Our arrival at Keflavik Airport was early in the morning (may have even been the first flight in that day) was quick and efficient, and customs staff were very welcoming and helpful. Our departure however, was a nightmare! This is a small airport and even in the middle of winter (February 2022), which is the low season, it was very crowded and extremely busy that morning. The lines for checking in were long and staff assisting in expediting were neither helpful nor efficient. Clearing security was also slow due to the number of flights leaving at that time of the day. The airport is pretty "functional" but not a lot on offer by way of food, drinks or lounge areas. The restrooms were fantastic! Cubicles included personal sinks so one is able to freshen up privately after a long flight. Another thing I was SO PLEASED to find was an enclosed smoking area at the side of the building. It's a covered area, partially open air but has great heating. The main reason for only awarding 3 stars was due to the stressful departure procedure. Tip for future travelers, get to the airport EARLY on your departure day!

One of the most pleasant airport in the world as the staffs were all polite, friendly, and helpful. Hardly any queues to check-in the luggage and only 5 minutes for the scanning of hand carry bags. Overall calm despite the many flights during the time I was there around 11 am. Enough restaurants and bars and shops to entertain you while waiting. Nothing classy or special but not disappointing. What’s important is the speed of service in this airport. Just a bit far from main Reykjavik like most airports

Very clean, compact airport with a lot of amenities. Signage and navigation pretty easy. Some nice artsy displays. Bathrooms clean. If any issues, the information booth not great with instruction and once you step outside no logical/clear signage or defined areas (stand here for rental car shuttle, here for taxis, etc…) - If you figure the departure from airport out, easy to get on your way.
